Rotate Your Crops

Do you have trouble lurking in your backyard? No, not burglars – but disease – in your vegetable garden. You can prevent problems in your planted areas by rotating crops. If you plant the same thing in the same place year after year, disease organisms can build up in the soil; and then you have big trouble. So keep a little chart of last year’s garden layout and choose new locations for your plants. Also, keep an eye out for such pests as cutworms when planting early crops – such as cabbage and cauliflower. Put a cardboard collar around the stem and push it into the soil to keep cutworms from taking the first bite out of your veggies. Keep these tips in mind, and trouble won’t be lurking around your gardening place.
